We received over 300 email inquiries for 11 available units and leased in a couple of days. We support that the City of Ann Arbor has changed the leasing timeline to better meet the need of tenants (good work GEO and CSG!) and we will begin leasing our smaller units (studio-3 bedrooms on Fall leases) in late March/early April. In the spirit of equity and fairness we DO NOT sign prospective residents to waitlists, ‘first right to lease’ agreements, or take holding deposits. We strongly feel that this practice, while common, is a violation of the spirit of the Early Lease Signing ordinance, speeds up the timeline, and initiates the pressure on students. We encourage prospective residents to seek out landlords and management companies who are in full compliance with the letter and spirit of the ordinance. In order to increase equity in the leasing process, we will begin accepting email contact only five days prior to the date we can start showing. All showings must be scheduled with us, please do not knock on our tenants’ doors. We feel it is important to keep prospective tenants informed and set reasonable expectations, so we share with you that while we would love to house everyone who is interested, demand is always high in Ann Arbor, so there is no guarantee of a unit even if you email first thing on day five.
